John 1
A praise song for use during the Christmas season (or anytime!) that reflects on the first chapter of John's gospel.
The Gospel of John does not tell the Christmas story, at least not the one that talks about angels and shepherds and a manger in Bethlehem. What it does cover is the part where Jesus was present at creation, and all things that came into being were brought into being by him. John 1 tells us Jesus is the life that gives light to all men, that Jesus is the Word of God, that Jesus is God. What John skips in the origin stories that Matthew and Luke tell is made up for by telling of the eternal, cosmic wonder of the God of creation taking on the form of man and walking among us, full of grace and truth.
