A praise song for Epiphany that follows the themes of Advent and Christmas into our daily living with a God who is with us.

The Gospel of Matthew harkens back to the prophet Isaiah in proclaiming that Jesus would be called “Immanuel.” Whether or not anyone ever called him by that name, we have come to recognize him by its meaning - God with us. Using that connection, we often start the season of Advent with another familiar line from Isaiah about people walking in darkness seeing a great light. The Gospel of John tells of that light in its opening chapter.

I wrote this song on December 26th, 2024, the second day of Christmas. We were out of the melancholic introspection of Advent and in full celebration mode, but those themes of darkness and light and God with us were still stirring in my spirit.

There is a word for the moment where we come to understand who Jesus is - God with us - and decide to give our lives to him so that through us, others might come to understand. That word is “epiphany.” Before “Let the People Know,” I had written a few Advent and Christmas songs, this would be my first praise song meant for Epiphany. When did you come to understand who Jesus is and turn your life over to him so others may come to know? Have you?
